Registered Nutritional Therapist
Lifecode Gx® Nutrigenomics Master Practitioner, NgC, DipION, mBANT, RegCNHC, MSci (Hons)
Hi, I’m Jo Hawkins
Analytical
I hold a degree in Astrophysics, which paved the way for my career at the Met Office. While I enjoyed my work, I often found myself sitting in front of screens.
This sedentary lifestyle, combined with poor food choices, began to affect my weight and overall health. Ultimately, recurring colds, fatigue, and brain fog prompted a visit to my GP, where I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism—a condition that affects my metabolism and can lead to poor immune tolerance, weight gain, constipation, and fatigue.
Passionate
In 2012, I took a career break to have my son, shortly after my daughter arrived in 2015.
As my son transitioned from a toddler to a pre-schooler, I observed that his relaxed demeanour began to fade. His teachers also noted that he exhibited behaviours such as frustration and aggression toward other children. These behaviours, among others, resembled symptoms of ASD and ADHD.
I explored various support strategies, which led to my new passion: Nutritional Therapy. This evidence-based, holistic approach enables me to support his well-being through diet and targeted supplements. Implementing these techniques has significantly helped him manage his behaviour and emotions.
Professional
I trained with the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London. I am a fully qualified member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
This means I follow the highest standards of practice and professionalism.
Since there is no legal requirement for nutrition practitioners to be qualified or registered, it’s crucial to verify that your chosen advisor is fully qualified and registered with a governing body to ensure your safety.
