Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics

We work with the leading experts in Nutrigenomics testing

Lifecode Gx®

They apply the latest genomics science and combine it with their clinical approach to create relevant, comprehensive and actionable nutrigenomics reports. This enables a truly personalised approach to health.

Genes serve as the instructions for everything in your body, similar to a building blueprint and an operation manual.

Think of them as the fixed design features that make us unique—like eye colour, nose shape, and gender. They also act as the instruction manual for how our body functions. The code in our genes helps create proteins and enzymes that perform vital jobs, such as detoxifying in the liver, producing blood cells, or making neurotransmitters.

Nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics examine small variations in the genome, known as SNPs (pronounced ‘snips’), and how they can affect us. Sometimes these ‘snips’ have no impact on the body, but sometimes they can speed up or slow down a pathway, or make a receptor a little more or less sensitive.

For example, the GC gene codes for a vitamin D-binding protein that transports vitamin D from your skin to your liver, kidneys and tissues.

If there is a SNP on the gene, then the ability to bind and transport vitamin D is reduced; hence, that individual likely has a greater requirement for vitamin D than someone without the SNP.
