Super Clean Green Smoothie Recipe

I love sharing this recipe with clients. It tastes really fresh and clean without being overly sweet and banana flavoured like most smoothies.

Preferably use organic fruit but if not just make sure the lemon is organic so you don’t eat the chemicals and waxes on the skin.

Makes 2-3 smoothies:

  • 1 x lemon

  • 1 x apple

  • 1 x pear

  • 1 x romaine lettuce

  • 1 x avocado (or frozen pieces)

  • 2 x scoops protein powder (I use hemp or pea, but try others!)

  • 2 x dessert spoons of finely ground flax seed

  • 200ml coconut water

Cut the hard ends off the lemon until the flesh is exposed, then cut into 6-8 chucks so you can remove the pips. Place the pieces in the blender. Roughly chop the lettuce and pop in the blender. De-core and roughly cut the apple and pear. Place in the blender. De-stone and peel the avocado and pop in the blender. Add the coconut water and blitz.

You may need to keep pushing the mixture down until it is all mixed. Add a little more coconut water to gain your preferred consistency or if the mix needs a little further sweetening you can use some apple juice instead. Pour into a glass and enjoy. Pour the rest into some glasses or jars to store in the fridge for up to 2 days and drink straight out of the jars to save on the washing up!

You can use this recipe as a base and then add different flavours like a handful of berries or fresh mint for example.
